It’s very straightforward; we’re passionate about music. Whatever we want to talk about, we will. You’ll find it all. Our only promise is that it will probably revolve around the stuff we’ve been digging recently.
And don’t expect to find any real sense of pattern between our ramblings. They are, after all, just that. Ramblings.
Don’t get us wrong – they’ll be considered, informed and hopefully make you think. You might not agree with our opinions, which is great – music is subjective. We don’t agree with each other most of the time. Let us know your opinions too, so we can all disagree with each other.
But that’s why we love music, and why we hope you do too.
Who we are
Based in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Joe and Jacob are Waxing Lyrical. Two friends, united by a love of music, who want to share what they love from the people and places they love.
Joe, a bassist, and Jacob, a guitarist, met at Newcastle University, playing alongside each other in the Newcastle University Jazz Orchestra. Having both graduated in 2024, they are now looking to shine a spotlight on Newcastle’s music scene, supporting the wealth of musicians and local venues the city has to offer, alongside their general ramblings into the wider world of music.
